A month after the win finding Jacks binoculars, I decided to go after his monocular. This seems to be the go-to prop for scoping out tactial situations and looks like it’s been through a lot of stargate based adventures.
More searching had me find that this time, they are indeed an expensive real world item; instead of greeblies, the only modification made was a lick of camo green paint and a bit of weathering.
Some persistence on eBay paid off, and I managed to pick one up for a bargain price, strip it of it’s original paint job and give it new one.
The monoulcar is a Minox MD 6×16 Compact, but it’s another item that only differs from the real world item due to a fairly descrete paint job. This is another Stargate SG1 prop that has actually come in really handy IRL.
